Shisa brand guidelines

Logos, colours, type and usage rules for Shisa AI and its products. This is for press, partners, customers and anyone else making something that mentions us, and for our own team.

The brands

Each kit has its own logos, palette and usage rules, with every file available to download. Start with the brand you are writing about.

How the brands fit together

Shisa AI is the company and the house brand. Shisa Speech carries the Shisa name; Chotto and Jouzu are products with their own identities, made by Shisa AI. When a product appears alongside the company, say so in words, e.g. “Chotto, by Shisa AI”, rather than combining the two logos.

Writing our names

Logos are artwork; names in copy follow these rules. In headlines and body text, write the name in the text's own typeface rather than inserting a logo.

Using our logos

You're welcome to use our logos to refer to Shisa AI and our products, provided you use them as supplied and follow the guidelines for each kit. For anything that goes further, ask us first.

Do

  • Use a logo in press coverage, articles and talks about us
  • Link to Shisa AI or one of our products from your site or app
  • Show that you use or integrate with our products, after letting us know
  • Use the files exactly as supplied, at or above their minimum size

Don't

  • Use our names or logos in your own product name, domain or social handle
  • Suggest that Shisa AI sponsors or endorses you without our agreement
  • Merge our logo with yours into a single combined mark
  • Use the mascots on merchandise or in your own marketing without permission
  • Modify, redraw, animate or recolour any of the marks

Next to a partner's logo

Set the two logos at a similar visual size, aligned on a shared centre line, separated by at least the clear space of the larger mark or by a thin vertical rule. Don't join them with a plus sign, an ampersand or a shared container, and send us co-branded material before it is published.

Large format and print

Shisa Speech and Jouzu have vector masters and scale to any size. The Shisa wordmark, Chotto and the mascots are supplied as high-resolution PNGs; for signage, booths and other large-format work, email us and we'll provide artwork at the size you need.

Common mistakes

The same handful of mistakes turn up again and again. They apply to every mark in every kit; Shisa Speech stands in for all of them here.

Accessibility

Alt text

Give a logo the brand's name as its alt text, e.g. “Shisa Speech”, not “logo”. Purely decorative uses of the mascots can have empty alt text.

Colour contrast

Body text needs at least 4.5 : 1 against its background. The bright brand colours (Chotto teal, the Jouzu ramp, the Shisa orange) are for marks, accents and large headings, not small text.

Motion

Animated brand elements should loop gently, pause when off screen and stop entirely for anyone who has asked their device to reduce motion.

Questions and permissions

For press enquiries, partner and co-branding approvals, large-format artwork, or a use these guidelines don't cover, email us and tell us what you're making and where it will appear.
